Merry Christmas!

We had another wonderful Christmas celebration this year. It included a beautiful church service with wonderful music provided by the bell choir after service. We then enjoyed our traditional Chinese food dinner Christmas Eve. But before we ventured out to church, the kids put out carrots for Santa's reindeer. Charlotte reports that she heard bells ringing in the night, and Michelle says she thought she heard the reindeer on the roof. Needless to say, all but one of the carrots were gone the next morning.

The kids did a great job letting Jeff and I sleep until 7:00. They all climbed into our bed to wake us up. Shortly thereafter, Robert tore across our room and ran straight into our door. He has a nice bruise under his right eye from that stunt.

We continued our tradition with yummy quiches made by Jeff and fresh cinnamon rolls made by Heather Christmas morning. It was nice to lounge in our new jammas while we opened presents. There was a nice assortment of technology, games, clothes, and jewelry this year.

The kids especially liked the books they received, and are enjoying spending time in their newly-organized and decorated bedrooms. Jeff is having a great time playing his new video game I gave him (but he bought for himself)...

I suppose we'll keep the decorations up until next weekend. It seems as though Christmas has come and gone too fast this year. I'd like to enjoy the tree just a little bit longer...

Welcome to the Hugus Family Blog!

After too many years of not having a web site, I have finally joined the blog phenomenon in an effort to share our family news. Since most of our recent news relates to music, I selected the closest blog template I could find to represent music. Just imagine the dots are notes.... Maybe designing my own musical template will be one of my future projects.

Our most recent musical event was on December 18th when the girls performed with the school chorus and mallet clubs. This was the school's first performance at the new Perry High School auditorium. The facility was beautiful, and the music was, too. The program included some holiday tunes as well as tributes to our armed services.

Charlotte did a wonderful job playing two different xylophone instruments. She had several wardrobe changes as she switched from playing to singing with the chorus.

Michelle performed along with the chorus and mallet performers on a rhythm song about the flute. Michelle and a few other students played solos while the groups set up between songs. It was wonderful to see so many students sharing their talents with us. I am thankful our school has such a wonderful music program.
